Our History
Pendle New Neighbours (PNN) was established in 2016 to provide care and support to asylum seekers and refugees in living in the Pendle area.
We were formed as a community voluntary group initially to support 10 Syrian refugee families who were resettled in Pendle as part of the Lancashire Syrian Resettlement Programme (SRP).
An additional 10 families arrived the following year and we provided them with practical and emotional support.
Since that time, two major factors have contributed to our development:
• The arrival of refugees from Afghanistan and Ukraine.
• The rapid increase in the number of asylum seekers arriving in Pendle.

This is a constantly changing population as they arrive, receive their decision, and either choose to remain as refugees in Pendle, move to another area, or are required to return to their homeland. Asylum seekers arrive from holding hotels and other locations to replace them.
We have become increasingly well known in Pendle and Lancashire by the Council, other agencies and charities, as the only service in Pendle that is wholly dedicated to supporting refugees and asylum seekers.
In October 2023, PNN registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, registered with the Charity Commission.
